The SA Heart
& PCR Congress 2020, scheduled to have taken place from 22 to 25 October at
the Sandton Convention Centre, has been cancelled.

“This
unfortunate decision was not taken lightly,” Dr David Jankelow, SA Heart
president and board chairman, has written in correspondence to prospective
delegates, “but is necessary because of the global coronavirus pandemic and the
enormous impact thereof.”

Acknowledging
“considerable uncertainty” in the medium term, Jankelow noted that the congress
was “a project that starts from nothing and ends as a fantastic scientific and
educational event”.

“We were
therefore looking forward to a successful SA heart 2020 ‘Back to Basics’
congress. We hope and trust that we will be able to host a significant congress
in 2021,” he added, giving the assurance that any further development in this
regard would be communicated soon.
