Being at the frontline of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, nurses have shown immense bravery and dedication in caring for their patients, often risking their own lives and those of their families in fulfilling their duties.

To honour and recognise the incredible contributions nurses are making in saving lives and bringing hope to their patients, trade union Solidarity’s Professional Guild for Healthcare Practitioners has launched a competition to find South Africa’s most remarkable nurse.

Members of the public and colleagues are asked to nominate the nurses who are excelling in caring for their patients with love, compassion and competence during what will be most likely the biggest health crisis in our lifetime for the #NurseSTAR award!

Nominations close on 26 September at 12h00.

Nominees have until September 29 at 12h00 to accept their nomination and register for the competition. No registrations will be accepted after this date.

The top ten nominations will be placed on a ballot paper on 18 October 2021 that will be made available for voting by members of the public.

The deadline for voting is 31 October 2021.

The winners will be announced during the Nurse STAR gala evening, which will take place in November 2021.

Prizes to be won:

 • First place: Weekend for four people at Kokoriba Game Reserve, to the value of R3000. As well as a cash prize of R7000.

• Second place: A beauty and skincare gift voucher from Placecol, worth R2000 and a cash prize of R3000.
