The Health Market Inquiry (HMI) has announced new dates for stakeholder
seminars related to its preliminary findings and recommendations on market
concentration and supply-induced demand. The seminars were initially scheduled
for February, but were cancelled due to budget constraints at the Competition
Commission which also led to the postponement of the Inquiry’s Final Report to 30 September.

The seminars will now be held from 9-12 April at the
Competition Commission’s offices in Pretoria.

The seminars will address the concerns of funders and
private hospitals over the HMI’s preliminary findings and recommendations on
the concentration of the biggest funders and hospital groups, as well as the
issue of supply-induced demand. Stakeholders have been requested to submit
presentations for the seminars before 15 March in writing to the following
