Dr Phil Matley has been unanimously elected as the new chairperson of the South African Private Practitioners Forum (SAPPF) at a recent Directors Meeting.
He succeeds Dr Yatish Kara who has served as Chairperson for the past 6 years.
Dr Matley is a vascular surgeon based at Life Kingsbury Hospital in Cape Town and has been the chairman of Surgicom since 2016. He is a past-president of the Vascular Society of Southern African (VASSA), a past-chairman of the Federation of South African Surgical Societies (FOSAS) and currently serves on the Exco of the Association of Surgeons of Southern Africa (ASSA).
He joined the board of SAPPF in 2020 and additionally serves on the boards of the operating company of Life Kingsbury Hospital and HQA (Health Quality Assessment). He was the managing partner of a large practice of specialist surgeons between 2008 and 2021. In 2014 the College of Surgeons of South Africa appointed him as moderator for the examination for the Certificate in Vascular Surgery.
